PURPOSE: To facilitate the working of wire pieces by constituting levers for holding clamping pawls in such a manner that the closing force of these clamping pawls simultaneously removes the load of the cam transmission devices of the apparatus and may be intensified without the additional devices at the time of increasing upsetting force during a head upsetting process. CONSTITUTION: This apparatus has the two clamping levers 18, 20 for supporting the clamping tool for workpieces, a cam leading device 32 for opening and closing the clamping tool and a tool for upsetting or hammering the workpieces to a specific linear direction. The clamping levers 18, 20 have rotary shafts 16 and the contact direction of the upsetting or hammering tool 90 intersects at right angles between these revolving shafts. The direction further crosses at right angles with the control shaft 34 of the cam transmission devices 30, 32. Both clamping levers of the cam transmission shaft 34 is controlled by frictional connection via a control cam 32. A frictional connection maintaining body 54 holds a roller 30 supported by lever arms 26, 38 while maintaining the contact with the control cam 32. As a result, the working of the workpieces, such as wire pieces, is made possible while these workpieces are temporarily held. |
