PURPOSE: To produce normal plastic pipes until there is renewed demand for corrugated pipe by providing a molten plastic pipe blank to the one end of a calibrating basin by an extruder and processing a substantially smooth plastic pipe from the second end of the calibrating basin by another processing device for the corrugated or ribbed pipe. CONSTITUTION: A production line differs from a production line for smooth pipe in respect of a corrugator 3. A calibrating basin 8 having two circulation paths for molding is disposed between separated driving-type mold forming portions 9, 10 of the corrugator. A pipe blank 11 from a die 2 of an extruder is fed through a brass calibrating barrel 13 at one end of the calibrating basin 8 into a cooling space and a subatmospheric pressure draws the pipe tightly against the inner wall of the calibrating barrel, thereby forming the pipe having a glassy, smooth surface. The pipe is cooled across the length of the calibrating basin 8 by water jets 14, whereafter it leaves the calibrating basin drawn by the drawing means 5 as the pipe 12.
