The host computer (3), converted to the digital recorder, comprises various head (2) on a cylinder (1) in contact with tape (13). Processors (6, 9) handle record and playback signals repectively and are connected to a RAM controller (8) which stores data in RAM (5) which deals with error connector coding and is itself controlled by micro computer (4, 7). Drive circuitry is driven by servo circuit (12). The magnetic heads (2) are mounted on a rotating cylinder (1), the outer surface of which is in contact with the tape (13). The tape (13) is scanned at a slant due to the rotation of the cylinder (1). A drive motor controls the position and speed of the tape (13). USE - Magnetic tape recording and playback equipment.
