The stapler for binding sheets of paper together is designed to bind blocks of sheets of different overall thicknesses and can use staples of different sizes to accommodate these different thicknesses. The staples are mounted on a magazine in the form of a replaceable support (2) which fits inside a small drawer (1). This drawer (1) and the support (2) together form a unit which can be withdrawn from the stapler for refilling with staples. The unit is held in the stapler by a tension spring and spring catches (4) and (7). A spring slider presses the staples to the stapling position.
