The water which is picked up by the tread of the tyre of a motor vehicle wheel is flung off the wheel in tangential jets. These jets of water are trapped in a device (10) which is fitted under the wheel arch. This device (10) is curved concentrically with the wheel and placed so that there is a radial gap between it and the wheel. The device is provided with through passages (8b) which are aligned tangentially with the wheel and receive the jets of water. The water is led into a chamber (15) inside the wheel arch from which it is drained by a pipe (14b). USE - Motor vehicle water catching device in wheel arch.
