A measuring device (ME) is coupled to a measuring interface (MS) incorporating electronic separation switches controlled for beginning the connection measurements and for separation of the data paths during the measurements. Pref. individual measuring modes are initiated via the measuring device and providign command for activating and deactivating the transmission paths for connection of test loops and for measuring the bit error rate or the frame errors. The detected line errors are fed to a display monitor. ADVANTAGE - Fully automised connection testing sequence.
