PURPOSE: To detect internal rupture of an electrode itself by constructing an ion selective combination electrode comprising an ion selective electrode to deliver a signal when the output from the electrode deviates from A predetermined range. CONSTITUTION: An electrode 10 comprises an ion selective electrode 12 and a reference electrode 14 while a unit 46 comprises a control circuit and an alarm circuit. The electrode 12 comprises an ion selective glass ball 18 connected with a glass stem 16 and a solution 20 is encapsulated in a case represented by the stem 16 and the ball 18 with a billet 24 of silver chloride being suspended by a silver wire 22 in the solution 20. Furthermore, a billet 36 of silver chloride is suspended by a wire 34 in a standard solution 32 of the electrode 14. In an ordinary case where the electrode 10 is employed in a test solution 42, pH is set within a safety range by a unit 46 and monitored thereat. When the system 16 is ruptured, the voltage goes to 0 and an alarm circuit in the unit 46 delivers a signal to alarm deviation from a safety operation range. |
