MAGAZINE FOR RECTANGULAR COORDINATE MEASURING DEVICE

PURPOSE: To obtain a magazine for rectangular coordinate measuring equipment in which a measuring scanner or a tool can be held surely and can be taken out easily by an arrangement wherein the field of a single electromagnet can be superposed on the field of a permanent magnet mounted on a magazine base through a magazine base in the process of replacement. CONSTITUTION: A scanning head 3 for supporting a replaceable scan pin 4a is secured to the stand 2 of rectangular coordinate measuring equipment and a magazine 6 for a scan pin to be replaced is installed on the outside of the measuring region of the equipment. The magazine 6 comprises a magazine base 14 disposed on the outer circumference of a rotatable disk 7 and scan pins 4a-4d are held thereat by means of a permanent magnet 18. The scan pin is exchanged between the scanning head 3 and the magazine 6 through combination of the translational and rotational movements of a double gripper 10. In order to release the magnetic holding force of the scan pin, the field of a permanent magnet 18 is superposed by the field of an electromagnet 12 carried on a carriage 9 to a replacing position on the back of the magazine base 14 and then the scan pin is taken out therefrom by means of the tongue 11a or 11b of the double gripper 10.
