PURPOSE:To perform a color printing with a totally uniform tone and to prevent a deterioration in quality caused by a dispersion in ink delivery amount by using a construction wherein a forward printing line and a reverse printing line are alternately printed. CONSTITUTION:Recording paper P is fed in a direction of an arrow Y. Respective heads A - D reciprocate in a direction X at right angles to a feed direction Y of the recording paper P. Where the number of printing lines per 1mm (a printing density) is d (dot/mm), a distance between delivery nozzles 1, 2,... N is 2l (=2/d), i.e. twice a printing line pitch. In forward printing, data for N lines is forward printed on every other line as shown by a rightward arrow. In turning to reverse printing, the recording paper P is fed by a distance M times the printing line pitch, and data for N lines is reversely printed on every other line as shown by a leftward arrow. In the reverse printing, the first delivery nozzle 1 is disposed between lines forward printed by the [(M+1)/2]-th delivery nozzle and the [(m+3)/2]-th delivery nozzle. |
