METHOD AND DEVICE FOR FORMING 360×DEGREE OUTER SKIN WINDING HANDLE

PURPOSE: To dispense with the use of a hard plastic backing plate in the handle part of a door handle by forming a 360 deg. surface on a heated mold through the casting surface thereof and casting a thermoplastic material thereabove to form a flat first segment and a tubular second segment. CONSTITUTION: The heat from a heat source is applied to the inner surface 44 of a shell mold 40 and a part of this heat is applied to a tubular 360 deg. surface 50 and other heat for heating the residual part of the surface 50 is provided from an electric resistance heater assembly 52. A filler comprising a dry particulate powder of a thermoplastic material is deposited on a shaken heated exposed casting surface 45 and a part of the dry powder material traverses the surface 50 to flow and a part of the filler is bonded to the mold surface 45 of the shell mold 40 and the inner surface of the assembly 52 to be melted to form a material layer forming a shell 18. Subsequently, the shell mold 40 and a plug 45 are cooled to pivotally revolve the assembly 52 from the shell mold 40 and the shell 18 and the integrated door handle tube membrane segment 20 are demolded.
