BONDING OF END OF ELASTIC SHEET MATERIAL WITH PARALLELLY EXTENDING REINFORCEMENT MEMBER

PURPOSE: To make the tensile force of the end part joined region of the elastic sheet material of a tire carcass substantially equal to that of other region by including a means altering the density of a reinforcing member to second density smaller than first density at the opposite side end part of the elastic sheet material. CONSTITUTION: The part 228 of the elastic sheet material positioned between gripper pads 148 is elastically deformed during the movement of a tool member 222 into a cavity and the space 230 between elastic members 82 at the part 228 increases from the space 86 between the adjacent members at the residual part of the sheet material 62. The space 230 is pref. at least three times the space 86. The reduced density of the reinforcing members 82 at the deformed part 228 is pref. at least 1/2 the density of the reinforcing members at the undeformed part of the elastic sheet material 62. When an untreated tire 124 is heated in a mold, the reinforcing members 82 of a first end part 302 are arranged between a pair of the adjacent reinforcing members in a second end part 30 in order to make the density of the reinforcing members of a joined part substantially equal to that of the central part 306 of a carcass.
