<p>PURPOSE:To manufacture an element having desirable surge resistance characteristic by supplying the air or mixture gas of specific mixture ratio of oxygen and nitrogen at a specific flow rate into a baking furnace when silver electrodes are printed on a sintered varistor. CONSTITUTION:A material containing zinc oxide as a main ingredient and oxides of bismuth, antimony, manganese, etc., mixed therewith is molded, and baked to form a sintered body. Then, the body is coated with silver paste containing silver as a main ingredient and glass frit, organic solvent, baked in a baking furnace to form silver electrodes. In this case, the air or mixture gas of oxygen and nitrogen with 10 to 40% of oxygen partial pressure is supplied into the furnace, and its gas flow rate is regulated to 10% or less (except 0) of the volume of the furnace per one minute. Thus, the atmosphere around the element during baking is always held in a new state to manufacture an element having excellent surge resistance characteristic.</p> |
