<p>PURPOSE: To design and evaluate an optical system from the viewpoints of optical performance and manufacture by obtaining a synthetic manufacture merit function value which characterizes a lens from the numeric values of merit function components and which is numerically shown and repetitively executing a lens design program with the value as a reference. CONSTITUTION: This method is suitable for the execution of a computer for characterizing the special lens by means of the manufacture merit function component for considering various factors contributed to manufacture cost. The method consists of following steps. First the plural merit function components are defined and special manufacture parameters are expressed by the components. Next, the numeric values on the merit function components are calculated based on the corresponding feature of the lens. Then. the synthetic manufacture merit function value by which the character of the lens is numerically expressed is calculated from the numeric values of the merit function components.</p> |
