The invention relates to a method which assists blind or visuallyhandicapped people when walking in public places and the tile used for thispurpose, specific features being that the method comprises creating acontinuous groove (5) in the surfacing of public ways, for example a gangway,in such a way that this groove (5) by-passes obstacles, allowing a blind orvisually handicapped person to safely lead themselves around these obstaclesby following the groove using a cane which is moved across the groove.
