PURPOSE:To easily thin the halftone dot pictures with the form a halftone dot kept as it is by defining a halftone dot block of the halftone dot picture data as the minimum thinning unit. CONSTITUTION:When the halftone dot picture data (a) having cycles are thinned, a halftone dot block is defined as the minimum thinning unit by reference to the size and the cycle of the halftone dot of the data (a). Thus the halftone dot picture data (b) is obtained as the result of process. The halftone dot block means the minimum unit of a square halftone dot, e.g., the (8 X 8) square halftone dot data consisting of 8 bits in the direction X and 8 bits in the direction Y respectively is defined as a single halftone dot block. Thus it is possible to thin the halftone dot picture data with the halftone dot form kept as it is and with the least deterioration of quality. Furthermore the additional hardware can be minimized. |
