PURPOSE:To obtain an image of high quality in response to the change of the image resolution by switching the image resolution of an output means with a image resolution switching instruction and at the same time changing a dither process. CONSTITUTION:A dither generating means 6 is provided to apply a dither process to the inputted multi-level image data together with an output means 10 which scans an output medium with the prescribed scanning line density and outputs the image, and an instruction means 7-1 which gives an instruction to change the scanning line density of the means 10 to n2 from n1. Furthermore a conversion means is provided to change the number of picture elements forming the dither matrix constitution of the means 6 to p2 from p1 with an instruction of the means 7-1 together with a print means which applies the image data undergone a dither process via the means 6 to the means 10. That is, the dither matrix component picture element number is changed to p2 from p1 in response to an instruction to change the scanning line density of the means 10 to n2 from n1. Thus it is possible to obtain an image of high quality in accordance with the change of the image resolution. |
