PURPOSE:To save a space for providing an arcing horn to reduce the size of a circuit breaker by a method wherein a magnetic plate comprises an engaging member and an arc suppressing member provided continuously with the engaging member and with a specific angle while the engaging member is fitted into a groove so that an end of the arc suppressing member is positioned in the vicinity of a contact and facing the arc. CONSTITUTION:Magnetic plates 31 to 33 comprise engaging members 31a to 33a fitted into grooves 12, 14, 16 and arc suppressing members 31b to 33b provided continuously with the engaging members 31a to 33a with specific angles, Therefore, whichever directional relationship the lengthwise direction of the grooves 12, 14, 16 and opening directions of contacts 4, 6 are in, by selecting the angles of the engaging members 31a to 33a with respect to the arc suppressing members 31b to 33b at a specific angle, ends of the magnetic plates 31 to 33 can be positioned in the vicinity of the contact 4, 6. Thus an arcing horn for guiding an arc to the ends of the magnetic plates 4, 6 does not need to be provided thereby saving a space while the size of a circuit breaker can be reduced since the directions of the grooves 12, 14, 16 can be selected without being limited by the opening directions of the contacts 4, 6. |
