1,267,490. Self-closing door. K. P. MAERTIN and S. C. COMBS. 20 Feb., 1969 [21 Feb., 1968; 9 May, 1968], No. 47746/71. Divided out of 1,265,871. Heading E2M. In a single swing door assembly, the upper and lower pivots are positioned so that the upper pivot point 40 is located nearer the centre of gravity of the door than the lower pivot point 37 and the pivot points are also offset horizontally with respect to the planar major surfaces of the door with the lower pivot being positioned nearer than the upper pivot to that side of the doorway toward which the door opens. The pivots may be contained in the plane of the door, as shown, or may be carried on blocks or lugs which extend away from the door. A ball bearing 38 may be located between the pin 32 and the end of corresponding socket 37. The pivots have sufficient tolerance to allow the door to tilt when opened. |
