A process for mfg. a wire rod for a tire code comprises heating a steel at 1000-1100 deg.C, heat-rolling the steel to make a wire rod form having at least 95% of total reduction area ratio, water-cooling the rod at 810-850 deg.C, and air-cooling it at 500-600 deg.C and 5-15 deg.C/sec cooling velocity. The steel is composed of 0.40-0.60 wt.% of C, 0.5-1.50 wt.% of Si, 0.30-0.70 wt.% of Mn, below 0.030% of P, below 0.030% of S, 0.10-0.20% of V, and remainder Fe and impurilies.
