PURPOSE:To eliminate the need of a photosensitive drum, to simplify process, to facilitate handling and to miniaturize a device by providing a latent image forming means which exposes a toner layer on a toner carrier to form its latent image pattern and a transfer means transferring at least a part of the toner layer on the toner carrier onto a recording medium. CONSTITUTION:A toner unit 4 is provided with a one-component conductive toner 2, the toner carrier 1 and a layer forming means 3 uniformly forming the electrified thin layer of the one-component conductive toner 2. The latent image forming means 5 exposes the toner layer on the toner carrier 1 to form the latent image pattern of toner charges. The transfer means 6 transfers at least a part of the toner layer on the toner carrier 1 onto the recording medium 7. In such a way, the one-component conductive toner 2 forms the thin layer on the toner carrier 1 in the toner unit 4, the electrified latent image corresponding to a picture signal is directly formed on the toner layer on the toner carrier 1, and only the toner layer turning into a latent image is directly transferred onto the recording medium 7 from the toner carrier 1. Thus, the need of a photosensitive drum is eliminated, the process is simplified, handling is facilitated and the device is miniaturized. |
