The waste paper collector comprises a collecting container which can be picked up by the gripper arms on a collecting vehicle. In its collecting position the container (1) is supported on a baseplate (4) adjoined by upwardly projecting tensile rods (8) on two opposite sides of the container. The tensile rods (8) are connected at a distance above the container through a cross beam to a pressing plate (12) which can be lowered by a drive. At least in the upper area of the container there is rotating protective grid which extends over the pressing plate (12). The baseplate can be provided on three sides with guide and reinforcement strips. USE/ADVANTAGE - Waste paper collector. The paper and cardboard can be pressed down lightly in the container to avoid empty spaces.
