GENERATOR WITH AUXILIARY FAN

A generator in a motor vehicle has an auxiliary fan which supplies fresh air from the region outside the engine space. The auxiliary fan in supplied by the generator electrical system. To prevent overheating of the generator if the auxiliary fan breaks down, the function of the auxiliary fan is monitored by a monitoring circuit. This circuit also monitors its own performance by means of a self-test and, if necessary, controls the auxiliary fan in function of the generator temperature.
