<p>The present invention relates to a device for preventing fractures of the neck of the femur in elderly people, comprising a removably secured support (1, 10), protective components (3) inflatable by means (6) which can be triggered on the detection (5) of a likely fall, where the support is secured to the waist; the inflatable components (3) consist of a plurality of bellows components which, once inflated, assume a sausage shape and are integral with the support and mutually adjacent so as continuously to cover an area extending substantially from the waist to mid-thigh; the triggering means (6) for inflation and detection (5) are arranged in front of the abdomen; the inflating means (71) inflate the plurality of the components in under 0.3 second; in which the detection means (5) consist of an accelerometer (5) triggered at accelerations of between 0.1 and 0.4 g, said accelerometer controlling an electric contact (60) interconnecting or not an electric source (50), each with electrically triggered pyrotechnic fuses for the inflating capsules (71) of the inflatable components (3).</p> |
