The swivel bearing for a container lid has at least one bearing element (7) held rotationally secure on the container and provided with two spaced holding tongues (15,16) and a through bore (14) for receiving a bearing pin (8) which is connected rotationally secure to the container lid (1). The bearing pin has in the contact area with the holding tongues (15,16) a conical section (25) of larger diameter than the width of the interspace between the holding tongues, as well as two diametrically opposite flattened areas (26) arranged in a pair parallel to each other with their mutual spacing equal to the width of the interspace between the holding tongues. The section (25) of larger dia. diverges towards the head (20) from the shaft (24) which passes through the bore (14) with little or no play. The holding tongues can be parallel holding plates with flat contact faces (19). USE/ADVANTAGE - Swivel bearing for container lid. Easy assembly yet secure hold of the lid in each occupied end position.
