A method of making a multiple magnetic head comprises the steps of (a) forming a pair of core sheets 15 of magnetic material each including a plurality of individual half cores 19, (b) bending the sheets into the configuration shown in Fig. 3, (c) machining the non-magnetic half housings 25 on surfaces 29 and 30 to receive the bent up core sheet with the individual half cores in the slots 28, (d) cementing the core sheet in position and machining the abutting faces of the half housings to remove the protruding portions of the core sheets and isolate the individual half cores, (e) encasing a number of coils 36 with associated terminals 37 and assembling the two half housings with a coil over the inner legs 19 of each of the cores and their outer legs separated by a non- magnetic shim 51, (f) filling the housings with a setting resin then removing the portions 18 of the sheets 15 by sawing and grinding the face of the housings to expose the legs 21 of the half cores and form the tape engaging face. |
