[Also in Division G2] A shoe reflector 10 attached under the sole instep so as to be inconspicuous in daylight, comprises an elastomeric or other body 11, Fig. 5, coated with reflex reflective glass beads 18 and shaped as a flat base with raised portions. As shown the raised portions form an open rectangular ridge around a central flat area; in modifications, Fig. 6-9 (not shown) the raised portions form (a) an open elliptical ridge; (b) a pair of parallel ridges; (c) an open square ridge; and (d) a pair of truncated cones. The self-adhesive reflector shown in Fig. 5 comprises a polyurethane body 31 cast in a preformed two-layer sheet 28 of specified elastomers carrying etched-off aluminium-coated glass beads 18, and is provided with an adhesive-coated vinyl base sheet 32. In alternative constructions a reflector may be covered by transparent material of different colours for each shoe and may comprise reflexreflective elements or material embedded in or adhered to a non-elastomeric block. |
