Double-knitting machine has two rows of needles. Those on one row move across the path of the others. Each needle is joined to a thin rod, one end of which is pointed and hooked to hold the stitches while transferring them to the other row of needles. The rod moves alternatively to-and-fro independently of but coordinated with the needles. The advantages are high regularity and precision. Products from this process are as good as from rectangular or circular machines. |
