A bar code system for displaying information particular to a portable radio communication apparatus (Fig. 3) by reading the information out of a storage 38 which is built in the apparatus, thereby eliminating the need for a bar code label. The information read out of the storage 38 is converted 54 into a bar code signal which is in turn transformed into an optical 44a and an acoustic 46a signal associated with the bar code signal. A bar code reader (Fig. 5 or 6) receives the optical or acoustic signals from the communication apparatus, transforms them into a bar code signal, transforms the bar code signal into associated information, and then displays 66, 78 the information. <IMAGE> |
