PURPOSE:To enable driving of a variable gap motor with higher torque by detecting the timing for minimizing the gap of winding between rotor and stator based on the variation of reactive power with time. CONSTITUTION:High frequency (1kHz) component of the output from a gate pulse generator 16 is detected through a bandpass filter 19 to produce a signal (d) which is then subjected to -90 deg. phase shift through a phase shifter 20 thus producing a signal (e). Then the signals (e) and (c) are multiplied through a multiplier 21 to produce a signal (f), while the signal (c) is subjected to phase shift of -90 deg. through a phase shifter 22 to produce a signal (c'), thereafter the signals (c') and (d) are subjected to polarity inversion through an inverter 23 to produce a high frequency signal (d') which is subjected to multiplication through a multiplier 24 thus producing a signal (g). Then the signals (f) and (g) are added through an adder 25 thus detecting reactive power signal Q continuously. A comparator 26 produces a minimum gap position pulse (x) when a signal Q exceeds level A. The pulse (x) is employed for control of rising/falling of drive current signal (a) in a drive generating circuit and for high torque rotation of the variable air gap motor. |
