Framework 1, 2 for supporting transparent or translucent panels to form, e.g. a partition, comprises hollow metal vertical 1, and horizontal, 2, members, connected together by connectors 3 with heads 29, the connector heads being inserted into longitudinal undercut channels 21-24 in the vertical members 1, and rotated to lock the connectors in position, whereafter the horizontal members are slipped on to the connectors and located by, e.g., pins 36. Studs 35 projecting from the connectors engage holes 25 in the vertical members 1. The panels may be located in position in the framing members by generally channel-sectioned beads 39 (Figs. 7-9, not shown), which may also be used, back-to-front, as cover strips for unused channels 21-24 in the vertical members 1. The vertical and horizontal members may comprise F-sectioned flanges on a basically rectangular tube (as shown), or may have fir tree-like flanges projecting diagonally from the corners of a basically rectangular tube, (Figs. 12, 14, not shown). The heads of the connectors may have different profiles, and be set further from the rectangular-sectioned body portion. |
