[Also in Division F2] A pressure reducer for a gas lighter comprises a Pad 6 of pervious material adjustably compressible between an intermediate member 8 and the lighter head 1 carrying the igniting means. The Pad 6 is seated in a cylindrical housing 5 in the head 1 and the member 8 engages the end of a threaded neck 3 of a gas container 2. The neck 3 is screwed into the lighter head 1 to compress the Pad 6. A fluid tight sleeve 9a around the sleeve 3 abuts a washer 9 and both are housed in an extension of the housing 5. A charging valve 15 is fitted in the base of the container 2. In a modification, Fig. 4 (not shown), the intermediate member has a bevelled lower end to perforate a polyamide diaphragm which seals the entrance to the threaded neck. In a further embodiment, Fig. 2, the intermediate member 21 has peripheral axial channels 21b and the threaded neck 18 incorporates a safety valve 23 which comprises a packing 23a urged against a seat 24 by a spring 26. A push member 27 engages the packing 23a at one end and the intermediate member 21 at the other end which protrudes beyond the end of the neck 18. When the head 16 is screwed down the intermediate member 21 opens the valve 23 and then seats on the neck 18 and compresses the Pad 28. |
