Sound-absorbing cladding on Diesel engine - has thin panels connected to crankcase by pieces of soft rubber

The diesel engine has a sound absorbing cladding. The crankcase (1) and/or oil bath (3) should be joined to the spaced acoustic shields (2, 4) by a permanently elastic glue (5) in unset condition or by a soft rubber vulcanisate. Pref. the glue is polyurethane or epoxy resin. The shields are made from steel sheet, sandwich sheeting or plastics. USE/ADVANTAGE - Acoustic shields prevent direct emission, using elastic polyurethane or epoxy resin adhesive as fixer and acoustic de-coupler.
