The method is for increasing the security of a cylinder lock of the type which has a cylinder core and is operated by means of a flat key. The security is improved by increasing the length of the cylinder core (11) so that it extends through the whole length of the lock and the knob (7) and is fastened to the security coupling (6). The security coupling (6) may be fastened to the knob (7) by means of steel pins (9). The knob (7) may be fastened to the steel housing (13) by means of a press fit or by local deformation of the housing. USE - Cylinder locks.
