PURPOSE:To obtain an electric double-layer capacitor, having a large capacitance, without making an increase in cost by a method wherein specific activated charcoal is contained in the first and second polarized electrodes in which an electrolyte is impregnated. CONSTITUTION:Polarized electrodes 4a and 4b, a separator 5 and current- collector 7a and 7b are provided on each capacitor cell 2 with which an electric double-layer capacitor is constituted. At this point, the activated charcoal, which is made from a polymer formed by adding comonomer of 0.5 to 25wt.% to polyacrylonitrile, is contained in the electrodes 4a and 4b. The desirable adding quantity of comonomer is 5 to 10wt.%. Methyl acrylate, methyl methacrylate, polyvinyl acetate and the like are used as comonomer. Also, it is desirable that the copolymer, which is the material of activated charcoal, is in fiber-like form. |
