PURPOSE: To realize electrophoretic separation of a charged macro molecule by applying a pulse of periodic order including a multiplex field pulse of positive and negative polarities in each period to the charged macro molecule. CONSTITUTION: A pulse of periodic order including a multiplex field pulse of positive and negative polarities in each period is applied to a charged macro molecule. More specifically, a charged macro molecule is applied with a pulse of periodic order including a first field pulse of one polarity, e.g. positive polarity, and field pulse of second polarity opposite to the first polarity, e.g. negative polarity. The second opposite pulse is applied with longer duration and lower strength than the first forward pulse. For example, a mixture of DNA particles is applied or introduced to a gel electrophoretic unit provided with an anode, a cathode and an output source. Two types of field pulse having opposite polarities and different strength are then applied to the DNA particles with the field pulse having lower strength being applied for longer duration than the first field. This method realizes electrophoretic separation of charged macro molecule particles. |
