PURPOSE:To set a recording level for any input source on the basis of only an indication on a level meter, by providing a meter circuit with a correcting circuit matched with the frequency characteristics of a magnetic tape at a maximum recordable level. CONSTITUTION:A recording input signal is inputted to a level meter 7 through a correcting circuit 9 and a level meter driving amplifier 8 after passing through, for example, a variable resistance 6 for level adjustment and a line amplifier 2. The correcting circuit 9 has correction characteristics matched with the frequency characteristics of a magnetic tape at a maximum output level, and also interlocks with the switching of a tape selector so that its characteristics are switched in accordance with, for example, the kind of the magnetic tape. Consequently, the indication level of the level meter need not be varied while an input source is listened to as usual, and a recording level is settable for an input source containing any frequency components on the basis of only an indication on the level meter. |
