Refrigerant in liquid or vapour state enters annular space 3 by tangential inlet 5 and some entrained oil is separated centrifugally, the refrigerant rising up cylinder 2 through defoaming chamber 20, containing layers, of metal mesh, and filter chamber 21, containing foam plastics, to outlet 13. In Figs. 3, 4 (not shown) the outlet opens directly into the material in chamber 21, which extends right up to cover 11 of housing 1. Automatic valve 14 allows separated oil to drain off. |
