A fixed-finger assembly for a mowing machine comprises a body-part 12 attachable to the mower-bar (not shown) and a pedestal support 14 for the moving knife, the support having a flat upper surface 32 to receive a ledger-plate 30 with first and second clamping members 35, 36 projecting upwardly from a flat surface of the support, each member being tapered to provide wedge-shaped sides which provide a downward clamping action on the ledger plate, the later being triangular and having openings 55, 56 with tapered sides which co-operate with the wedge-shaped sides of the clamping members, the ledger plate when mounted being rendered immovable by a pin 70 passing through an aperture 46 in the support 14 and through one of the openings 56 in the ledger plate. The opening 56 is larger than the corresponding. member 36 and includes a rectangular portion 65 which enables the ledger plate to be slipped over the clamping members and forced rearwardly to inter-engage the tapered surfaces. The ledger plate overhangs the support 14 all round and has chamfered side-edges 61 which are serrated at 75 to co-operate with the moving knife. |
