PURPOSE:To prevent the permeation of moisture, transmission loss and the deterioration of strength with time by housing a fluoride fiber in a loose structure into a hollow tube consisting of quartz glass. CONSTITUTION:A resin coating layer 4 as a primary coating is provided on the outer periphery of a fluoride glass fiber 3 consisting of a core 1 and a clad 2 to constitute the fluoride fiber 5. A protective coating layer 9 consisting of the quartz glass 7 coated with a resin coating layer 8 on the outer surface thereof is provided to hold a hollow part 6 between the coating layer and the fluoride fiber 5. Namely, the fluoride fiber 5 is loosely housed into the hollow tube 7 of the quartz glass which is the protective layer and, therefore, the protection to the excessive bending and pulling is provided on the fluoride glass under use. Weatherability is provided on this glass as well. |
