PURPOSE:To make it possible to obtain an optical signal of high quality by a method wherein a semiconductor laser is provided with a light branching body, by which a beam output is branched in a plurality of directions, and the beam outputs and the optical signal are monitored. CONSTITUTION:One side of the beam outputs of a semiconductor laser 1 is optically coupled with an optical fiber 5 by a coupling optical system consisting of a converged index distribution lens 2 and a photoisolator 4 and the other beam output is introduced in a light branching body consisting of the lens 2 and a beam splitter 6. Moreover, the beam output on one side of the beam outputs branched by the light branching body is optically coupled with a photodiode 7 for beam output monitor use, the other beam output is converged by a spherical lens 8, is optically coupled with a photodiode 9 for optical signal monitor use and the beam outputs and an optical signal are monitored without affecting the optical signal. Thereby, an optical signal of high quality can be obtained. |
