Haloacyl l-substituted -1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-isoquinoline compounds having the structural formula: wherein X is haloacyl, wherein each of Y1, Y2, Z1 and Z2 is independently selected from hydrido, alkyl, aryl and haloalkyl, with the proviso that at least one of Y1 and Y2 must be a group other than hydrido; and wherein each of R1, R2, R3 and R4 is independently selected from hydrido, alkyl, alkoxy and haloalkyl, for use as herbicide antidotes. These antidote compounds are especially effective in safening acetamide herbicides used to control grassy and broadleaf weeds in corn. |
