PURPOSE:To shorten the boundary tracking time by setting the boundary tracking direction, and also, showing the data at the time of boundary tracking by a position and a direction code of the present picture element, and deciding a position and a direction code of a picture element to be advanced in the next time by information of two picture elements indicated by the direction code. CONSTITUTION:The boundary tracking direction of an object image is set in advance, and also, data at the time of boundary tracking are set as a position and a direction code of the present picture element. Accordingly, as for the picture element to be read out by a single tracking operation, only picture elements of two parts indicated by the direction code are enough, and in order to advance a boundary point by one picture element, it will suffice that one picture element at least and six picture elements at most are read out and its information is selected. In such a way, the number of times of image memory access at the time of boundary tracking of an object image decreases, and the time required for boundary tracking is shortened. |
