PURPOSE:To increase the processing speed of a program by expanding master file data of an external storage device on a main storage device just after the start of a program. CONSTITUTION:A master file expansion table area is preliminarily reserved in a program A. When the program A is started, data of the master file is read in from an external storage device 3, and all of data is expanded in the master file expansion table area on a main storage device 2. Thus, contents of the master file are updated without having an influence upon the program and the number of times of input/output requiring a long processing time between the program and the master file on the external storage 3 is reduced to increase the processing speed of the program.
