THERMAL TRANSFER RECORDING SHEET

PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal transfer recording sheet capable of performing printing excellent in heat resistance, abrasion resistance, oil resistance and chemical resistance by using a specific binder as the binder of a thermal transfer layer. CONSTITUTION:A thermal transfer recording sheet is formed by providing a thermal transfer layer consisting of a colorant and a binder based on an acrylic/styrene copolymer resin and a polyester resin on the surface of a heat- resistant support. The thermal transfer layer provided on a support is formed by dissolving 10 - 30 pts.wt. of the colorant, 30 - 89 pts.wt. of the acrylic/styrene copolymer resin, 1- 30 pts.wt. of the polyester resin and 0 - 20 pts.wt. of a lubricant in an org. solvent and applying the resulting solution to the support in a thickness of 1 - 4mum to dry the same. The acrylic/styrene copolymer resin pref. has a glass transition point of 50 deg.C or more and an MW of about 20 - 500 X 10<3>. The polyester resin is a saturated thermoplastic one having a glass transition point of 30 deg.C or more and pref. compatible with the acrylic/ styrene copolymer resin.
