<p>The simulator can be built up from a conventional computer, VDU (52), keyboard (51), joystick (53) and special pedal board (54) or can use a specially designed console and seat which more accurately simulates a road vehicle driving position. The pedal board has spring loaded accelerator (57), brake (56) and clutch (54) pedals, while the joystick is modified to mimic a gearchange column. The signals fed to the display are under the control of a computer which has been programmed to apply a realistic computer model of the mechanical characteristics of a vehicle to the signals from the controls (53 to 57). @(34pp Dwg.No.5/7)@.</p> |
