PURPOSE:To improve moldability by impregnating honeycomb molded material composed of inorganic heat-resistant material, binder and plasticizer in hot water to impart flexibility to the molded material, drying and burning on a heat-resistant jig having a fixed shape. CONSTITUTION:Rehydrating alumina, fused silica and potassium hexatitanate are respectively adjusted to give a heat-resistant inorganic material composed of 5-30wt.% Al2O3, 70-94wt.% SiO2, 0.8-8wt.% TiO2 and 0.2-2.0wt.% K2O and the inorganic material is mixed with a binder such as methyl cellulose gelling at a temperature higher than a fixed temperature and a plasticizer such as sorbitan fatty acid ester imparting flexibility to a molded material in a hot water of a temperature of gelling the molded material, thin subjected to extrusion molding to obtain a honeycomb molded material. Said molded material 1 is impregnated in hot water 2 of about 75 deg.C containing surfactant for about 10 min to exhibit flexibility by the plasticizer and laid on a heat-resistant receiving jig 3 having bent shape and water absorption properties to have curvature shape, then dried, thus heat treated at about 1200 deg.C tor about 1 hr to afford the objective honeycomb ceramic 4. |
