PURPOSE:To obtain the wavelength multiplex optical transmission and reception module which suits to size reduction and to improve the manufacture operability by coupling the optical fiber of an optical transmission line side optically with one end of a main waveguide on a waveguide substrate, coupling either a light emitting element or a light receiving element optically with the other end, and coupling the element other than the element which is coupled optically with the main waveguide with one end of a subordinate waveguide. CONSTITUTION:A single or plural light emitting elements 1 for transmission and a single or plural light receiving elements 2 for reception are provided on a single waveguide substrate 3, the optical fiber 5 of the optical transmission side is coupled optically with one end of the main waveguide 4 formed on the waveguide substrate 3, and either of the light emitting elements 1 and light receiving elements 2 are coupled optically with the other end of the main waveguide 4. Then the elements other than the elements which are coupled optically with the main waveguide 4 are coupled optically with one end of the single or plural subordinate waveguides 6 formed on the waveguide substrate 3 so that a specific-length part is close to the main waveguide 4. Consequently, the wavelength multiplex optical transmission and reception module suit to size reduction and is excellent in manufacture operability is obtained. |
