PURPOSE:To make the ejection width for coolants variably adjustable and controllable according to the width of a steel plate material to be treated by providing a valve body which is freely movable along the longitudinal direction of a water feed pipe in said pipe and opening and closing injection nozzles by this. CONSTITUTION:The width of a steel material 8 to be treated and carried out from a heating furnace is detected beforehand, and according to the width thereof, a screw shaft 16 is rotated and driven to move a valve body 12 along the inside of a water feed pipe 4' so that only the injection nozzles 5 corresponding to the width of the material 8 are opened. Hence, this results in that coolants are sprayed through the nozzles 5 only to the material 8 conveyed on rollers 2. When the width of the material 8 changes, the shaft 16 is revolved according to said change to open and close a suitable number of the nozzles 5, whereby the ejection width of the coolants along the longitudinal direction of the pipe 4' is variably adjusted and controlled. In this way, the material 8 is adequately cooled. |
