PURPOSE:To obtain a piezoelectric material having high piezoelectric constant and mechanical quality coefficient and stable temperature characteristics and suitable as a material for an ultrasonic motor, an ultrasonic vibrator, etc., by adding a specific amount of MnO2 to a ceramic composition having a specific composition. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition is produced by adding 0.5-5mol% of MnO2 to 100mol% of a ceramic composition expressed by aPb(Sb1/2Nb1/2)O3- bPb(Zn1/3Ta2/3)O3-cPbTiO3-dPbZrO3 wherein (a) to (d) are mol% satisfying the formulas 1<=(a+b)<=20; 0.5<=(a)<=10; 35<=(c)<=52.5; 35<=(d)<=55; (b) is not 0; (a+b+c+d)=100. The piezoelectric constant can be increased by substituting <=10atom% of Pb of the above ceramic composition with one or more elements selected from Sr, Ca and Ba. |
