PURPOSE:To obtain the subject composition which can give a molding having excellent impact strength and good abrasion resistance by mixing aromatic polyamide particles with a polyether ethereal ketone fiber. CONSTITUTION:Aromatic polyamide particles (desirably a homopolyamide or copolyamide having at least 40mol% repeating m-phenylene isophthalamide units and a mean particle diameter of 10-400mum) are mixed with polyether ethereal ketone fibers (desirably short cut fibers of a length <=6mm) to obtain a composition for compression molding. By compression-molding this composition, a product having excellent heat resistance and flame retardancy inherent in aromatic polyamide as well as sufficient mechanical properties, especially, Izod impact strength which is far higher than that of a conventional aromatic polyamide molding can be obtained. |
